Kilchrenan is a
small village with a church and pub but no shops. It is close to the
shores of Loch Awe on the West Side. There is an excellent butcher,
grocer, post office and hairdresser, just 6 miles away
in Taynuilt. Oban is 12 miles from Taynuilt and is a busy little port
with fishing boats and car ferries to the outer Isles.
In the immediate
area there is good walking also Ben Cruachan one of our Munros for more serious walkers. Loch Awe is famous for it's trout and
pike fishing. Boats are readily available to hire and can be used for fishing
or to explore the many islands. There are two well-preserved castles
to be found and a burial site for the Campbell's.
There is an all weather
arena and stabling can be organised if guests wish to bring their own
horses. On the loch close to the house there is a private sheltered
bay where boats can be launched and a pier to give easy access.
